UNA-072

Object: Assistant

Containment: Clausa

Risk: Infreque

Type: Narcotic

Description

UNA-072 is a [REDACTED] brand headband, manufactured in 1996, with anti-telepathic abilities. Any person wearing UNA-072 will be immune to any narcotic signals, meaning that the person will not be affected by an object that can control or read one's mind. The mechanism in which it allows the wearer to be immune is unknown, however it has been suspected that the material which UNA-072 is made of, which has yet to be identified, is involved.

UNA-072 has been shown to make a person immune to multiple different UNAs, including UNA-097, UNA-107 and UNA-[REDACTED], among others.

UNA-072 has also been shown to allow the wearer to be unaffected by some cognitohazards. Physical cognitohazards such as UNA-035 do not appear to have negative effects on wearers of UNA-072. However, wearers seem to still be susceptible to digital or technological cognitohazards, like UNA-067. It is unknown why UNA-072 works only on certain types of cognitohazards, and not others, although the reason is also thought to be linked to UNA-072's material.

UNA-072 is classified Assistant due to the help it contributes to the containment of narcotic and some cognitohazard UNAs.

Acquiration

UNA-072 was found in the abandoned warehouse of [REDACTED], the brand that appeared to have manufactured UNA-072. The headband was found in a crate, amongst other headbands, however only one had anomalous properties.

UNA-072's properties came to light when a worker of the [REDACTED] warehouse, tasked with bringing the crate of headbands to a new warehouse, jokingly put the headband on. At that moment, a narcotic UNA was breaching containment, and proceeded to affect all other people around him, except him himself. After the UNA was returned to containment, the worker was brought into custody, where UNA-072's properties were found.

Containment Protocol

UNA-072 is to be kept in Storage Locker 01 in Site 12. At no point is UNA-072 to be removed, unless for study or when Protocol Narcontainment is necessary, and removal of UNA-072 can only be authorised by UNAS-F-6 and above.

Should UNA-072 be stolen or lost, UNA-072 is to be relocated and retrieved as soon as possible by UNAS-F-2. At all times no less than 12 soldiers must be actively going for retrieval of UNA-072. Due to the importance of this UNA, loss of UNA-072 cannot occur at all costs.

Protocol Narcontainment is the protocol that attempts to recontain any narcotic or cognitohazard UNA that has breached containment. The protocol follows the following procedures:

1. Site 12 is informed of any containment of narcotic UNA breached. UNAS-F-2 situated at the area are to be made fully aware of all activity occurring within the area in which containment is breached.

2. Should 30 minutes pass without successful recontainment, UNAS-F-2 are to be prepared to transport UNA-072 to wherever containment has been breached. If containment is breached in Site 12, no transportation is required.

3. A single UNAS-F-2 is to wear UNA-072 and enter containment breach Site. The UNAS-F-2 is to be given full access to any weapon and ammunition he requires beforehand, and is to confront the UNA alone. While termination is generally avoided, the UNAS-F-2 is allowed to terminate the UNA if need be. More UNAS-F-2 are situated in all directions to prevent further escape of UNA should recontainment fail.

4. When the UNA has been successfully subdued or recontained, more UNAS-F-2 may or may not be sent to the Site to assist, depending on the severity of narcotic effects after subduing.

5. If at any point UNA-072 does not appear to work on the UNA that has breached containment, or the UNA is still aggressive and hurts the UNAS-F-2 wearing UNA-072, immediate backup is to be called, and UNAS-F-2 are to be sent in in batches of 30, with intention to terminate the UNA.

Addendum-072-1

Below is an interview by Dr. [REDACTED], of the worker, [REDACTED], who discovered UNA-072.

<BEGIN LOG>

Dr: So, [REDACTED], that's your name, right? *Several seconds of silence* Good. Now, I was wondering if I could ask you about this headband. We've called it UNA-072. How did you come to find it?

Worker: Okay, so, uhm, I work at a warehouse. You know, for the company [REDACTED]. Well, I mean, I worked there. It's gone now, cause [REDACTED] has gone bankrupt. We were forced to leave the warehouse, and move all the stuff over to the main building, [REDACTED] Headquarters, LA. So, as I was moving the stuff, I saw, like, this very old crate. It was so old, I don't even think it was… No, no, it must have been from the [REDACTED] company. Yeah, the crate had the company logo stamped on it.

Dr: Alright, and you looked into the box?

Worker: Uhm, yes, yes, that I did. There were like a bunch of headbands. Uhm, red, with no marking. They could stretch really wide. It kind looked soo awful, you know. I just wanted to wear one for the laughs. I took one out of the box, and wore it. Oh, yes, I almost forgot. The box, while it looks very old, the inside is actually super clean.

Dr: Super clean, huh? So, tell me, did you feel anything weird when you wore the headband?

Worker: Well, nothing much. I honestly didn't feel anything at all. It kinda just felt like a normal headband?

Dr: Okay, then what happened?

Worker: Then what… Oh, right. The big monster thing? Apparently as we were going about our business, moving the boxes and stuff, the was this giant ball of… thing that was barreling towards us. Like, directly. I looked around, and everyone was just standing, and staring. Those that didn't look like they were going to be hit even moved to be in the way of the barreling monster! All the while, I was just thinking what idiots they were, trying to stand in the way of such a dangerous thing. I just walked away, and looked. Now that I think about it… Oh, wait. It was the headband, wasn't it? That's why you wanted to know all about it!

Dr: Please, stay calm. Answer my questions. It appears you wore the headband, and so you weren't affected by UNA… the giant monster thing. The monster thing, we call it UNA-107, affects people my controlling their minds, forcing them to stand in its way as it hurtles down a path, so that it can hit them. You, wearing the headband, did not feel the urge to stand in the way, yes?

Worker: Yep, I didn't feel a thing.

Dr: Okay, I think we're done here. [REDACTED], we will now proceed with amnestics administration. Just hold tight, and you will be fine, alright?

Addenum-072-2

It has come to the attention of UNAS-F-7 that UNA-072 is to be a part of a project known as Project NEMESIS, a mission to use technology to uncover the activities of enemy Groups of Interest. While the UNAS-F-7 mostly approve of this, UNA-072 is still not to be removed from Site 12 at any time. Instead, the research lab is to be situated in Site 12, with researchers only removing UNA-072 during study. When not in use, UNA-072 is to be returned to its original containment area.
